 District Survey

The Avon Local School District is asking residents to participate in a survey. This 5 - 10 minute survey offers Avon Residents the opportunity to voice their opinions about the school district.

Bond issue and renewal operating levy on March ballot 

In order to meet the continuing growth of the student population and alleviate the crowding at the middle school, and Heritage North and South, the Board of Education has placed a 2.25 mill bond issue (Issue 11) on the March 2012, ballot to provide $32,000,000 to build a new middle school that will house the 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  The bond will be assessed at 1.25 mills, costing a resident with a home valued at $100,000, an additional $38.29 annually or $3.19 per month for 32 years.

The Board of Education, also placed a 3.21 mill renewal emergency operating levy (Issue 12) on the March 2012, ballot that will not increase taxes.  The emergency operating levy will provide $2,500,000 annually for 10 years; which represents approximately 8% of the operating budget of the district.   Operating levy monies may only be used for the general operation of the school district to fund the day-to-day operations of the district; such as salaries, health insurance, utilities, supplies, textbooks, transportation, etc.

Superintendent Announces his Retirement

Jim Reitenbach, Superintendent for the past 13 years, has officially announced his plans to retire, effective July 31, 2012. The Board of Education will be working with Finding Leaders, to conduct a search to hire and develop a transition plan for the new Superintendent. District Report Card Results for 2010 - 11

We are proud to be rated "Excellent with Distinction" for the 2010 - 11 school year and this marks the 11th consecutive year as being rated Excellent and/or Excellent with Distinction by the Ohio Department of Education.
