This letter is to remind you that the season for lice is here. For students, it means re-acquainting with old and making new friends. It also brings the resurgence of head lice, especially with our young eagles grades K – 4.
Some things to remember: anyone can get head lice... mainly through direct head-to-head contact but also from sharing hats, brushes, and other personal items. Head lice do NOT reflect poor hygiene or social status.
We ask that you please do your part to prevent the spread of this nuisance condition by checking your child weekly. It has been shown that head lice are typically not spread through a casual setting such as school, but moreso with play dates and sleepovers. During the colder months children are also playing inside more often and in closer contact, rather than in summer when they typically are outside.
