I wanted to take a moment to pass along a couple of important updates as we prepare the building for the first day of school next Thursday, August 20th. As you probably saw in the “Welcome Back” letter we sent out earlier this month, Open House will be held on the Heritage campus from 5:30-7:30 next Tuesday. We look forward to seeing the students as they meet their new teachers and classmates and learn more about the upcoming school year.
We have been receiving many inquiries about class lists this week. As mentioned in the letter, we will post the third, fourth, and fifth grade lists outside the North and South entrances of the building tomorrow afternoon, at 4:00. I know that it will be difficult for many parents and students to make it to the building tomorrow or later this weekend. To that end, attached to this e-news message, you will find copies of the third, fourth, and fifth grade class lists.
We really need to stress that these class lists are final. Now that these lists are in the hands of teachers, we are unable to make changes to the lists at this point, as we went to great lengths to make each classroom an optimal, heterogeneous learning environment. When at all possible, I tried my best to honor as many specific teacher requests as possible. Since January, I received over 300 hundred requests. I am happy to report that the grand majority of teacher requests were able to be honored. Unfortunately, due to the bulk of requests for certain teachers, this was not the case for certain requests. In the event that your child was not placed with the teacher you requested, I tried my hardest to find a similar learning environment for your child to thrive. Please understand that we did our very best with these class lists, and made every effort to honor the wishes of parents while being mindful of the needs of the entire class in each learning environment. As a result, we are unable to make any changes to what is being shared today.
I would like to thank you in advance for your understanding with our classroom policy and wish everyone the best as we wrap up the final days of summer and prepare for an exciting year at Heritage Elementary School.
